SQL Server 2008 on Windows Server 2003/2008

SQL Server 2008 is a relational model database server produced by Microsoft. This article describes how to install SQL Server 2008 on Windows Server 2003 SP2 or Windows Server 2008.

SQL Server Installation Center

SQL Server Installation Center1. In SQL Server Installation Center, click Installation.
SQL Server Installation Center2. Click New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation.

SQL Server 2008 Setup

Setup Support Rules1. In Setup Support Rules, click Ok.
Product Key2. In Product Key, enter your product key and click Next.
License Terms3. In License Terms, check I accept the license terms and click Next.
Setup Support Files4. In Setup Support Files, click Install.
Setup Support Rules5. In Setup Support Rules, click Next.
Feature Selection6. In Feature Selection, check the features you want to install and click Next.
Instance Configuration7. In Instance Configuration, click Next.
Disk Space Requirements8. In Disk Space Requirements, click Next.
Server Configuration9. In Server Configuration, specify the Account Name and Password for the SQL Server Database Engine service and click Next. Learn how to create a new user account.
Database Engine Configuration10. In Database Engine Configuration, specify the Authentication Method to use and the SQL Server administrators and click Next.
Error and Usage Reporting11. In Error and Usage Reporting, click Next.
Installation Rules12. In Installation Rules, click Next.
Ready to Install13. In Ready to Install, click Install.
Installation Progress14. The setup process will now begin.
Installation Progress15. After the setup process finishes, click Next.
Installation Complete16. Finally, click Close.
